What's that? shoes!

Today consitsted of a trip to DFO, the plan was to buy my ex housemate V a belated birthday present. I knew he was after a full sized umbrella (the non collapsable ones) and I'd brought lovely ones at Oroton in Melbourne. Sadly there weren't any at the outlet here. Any suggestions for a good sturdy umbrella would be appreciated!

Being the waste-not person that I am, I wasn't going to waste the petrol I'd used driving to DFO to come home empty handed. So naturally I found something for myself instead:

Boots in northern QLD weather, are you crazy??

I like to think of myself as practical. I wear flat boots to work everyday. I like to be prepared for things such as vomit, pee, diarrhoea, blood, pus, etc to land on my shoes because it does happen every so often. With boots I can just easily hose them off, spray disinfectant and forget it ever happened. Shoe laces would be too difficult to disinfect and runners absorb everything. My co-workers think I'm crazy but I think they're crazy!

I can't wait to wear these. Last pair at the Williams Outlet reduced from $90 to $45! The cushioning is great and heaps of grip on the sole. A vast improvement to my previous pair of boots (Asos flat boots). My old ones looked pretty but had zero support and started to fall apart on the inside lining after just 4 months of wear.

What shoes do you wear to work and what line of work do you do?

  1. I could have written the first part of this myself! I also have a lot of trouble with a fair few of my old school friends. There are around 6 of them still living in my hometown, so I try to catch up with them when I go home. Last time I gave them 1.5 months notice and only had 2 RSVP straight away, and another 1 the day before. The other 3 didn't reply at all! I ran into one I hadn't heard from the night before, and she asked what she could bring to it and to text her in the morning to remind her about it! I (as politely as possible) told her this was her reminder if she wanted to come, and didn't think I'd need to text her in 12 hours if she was keen on coming. Like you, I'm sick of making the effort and don't plan to in the future (except for those who do make an effort with me)!

Oh, and I absolutely love love love that outfit. Very cute! Nothing better than putting on one of your fave outfits to cheer you up! I'm also liking the boots- what a bargain!

    1. Some people are shocking, aren't they? You'd think they'd RSVP to a friend, it's not like you're a stranger inviting them to a flashdance event on facebook!

  2. Oh that sucks but sometimes it's hard to stay connected when you live away, I've lost touch with majority of my high school friends now as I've been living away from home for 10 yrs. Think quality over quantity.

    Are you wearing a tutu?

    1. Absolutely, I am all about the quality, hence my single digit quantity at this stage!
I always joke about my cat being my 'one friend' up here in QLD. Actually, I have met some lovely people here so maybe I'll have some more 'friends' up here soon!

I'm wearing a Bettina Liano T dress-not quite a tutu but close! It does make me feel very girlie =)

  3. I have the same problem with a lot of my friends too. Once you stop putting in the effort, apparently they stop caring.

Meanwhile, I really wish that I wore adult sized shoes so I could buy some shoes from the chemist. The majority of the ladies I work with buy chemist shoes for work and they are always much more comfortable than me.

    1. I'm glad I'm not alone with this friends problem!

What size feet are you? I was always under the impression that kids shoes would be more comfortable as they are designed for children to run around in. I was going to buy a kids pair of boot school shoes until I came across these!
